Given that you want an RV and you are both rich and insane, would you choose:
The amphibious super luxurious class C !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ?
Or all terrain !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ?
What say you. Its a tough one for me. The idea having a houseboat and an RV seems pretty great....but the I love overlanding and my family could live quite comfortably out of the XV-HD for as long as we had funds. Tough one.

XV-HD. The Terrawind doesn't look at home on water. Looks like too much of a compromise where the XV-HD looks at home on land. Rough and smooth.

EarthRoamer. because actual usability. The Terrawind is cool, but is only usable on calm lakes with a gentle ramp. Whereas, the EarthRoamer can go anywhere.

with the outriggers it's supposed to be able to handle 5 foot seas

Inflatable outriggers are not comforting. Also, I doubt it could make much headway into a stiff breeze.

Probably the Terrawind. I live in MD close to the water. Off roading isn't really interesting to me.

I'll take the all terrain thingy. Less concern over drowning when a pontoon pops.

Ok, you're at Lake Powell. Now back the boat down the ramp ;)

yeah, the inflatable riggers are just for added stability and so you can use the slide while underway, it floats and drives fine without them, as far as headwind? yup...but try that in a houseboat anyway.

that's a tough choice...goes the xv-hd come in a diesel and stick?

so what you are saying is not that its insane...its just stupid. I hear ya. btw, I'm sure you've seen it as well, but triples aren't that uncommon out west.

Diesel? cummins, stick? nope.
Dusty Ventures

04/17/2014 at 17:27 | 0 |
Yeah, but they're mostly used for highway hauling. I live just off I-90 and at my exit there's a big lot the triples will pull into and break down into cab+single trailer for venturing out onto the surface roads.

interesting, I see a lot of triples headed to lake powell, they brake apart at the marina. For the record, I think its a terrible idea.

Are they making any progress on Hwy 89?

Most of the time, they are chipped F350's, so they are getting along just fine. Better than I will be in the cruiser and my pop up.

Silly man, You drop the extra trailer first and then put the boat in the water with the vehicle you brought with you in the second trailer.

Landslide took out a big chunk of the road last year. AZDOT is trying to establish a different road across Navajo land while they reconstruct Hwy 89. 89 is a major road leading to Lake Powell/Page from the south. (I guess I thought you lived in that area).

I'd take this. In the U.S. there's more fun to be had in the water. Chicago fireworks from an amphibious palace? YES.

I'll admit I'm new to posting and being a jalop, but I don't understand the appeal of the color brown.
Diesel yes, wagon yes, stick yes, rwd yes, except when the answer is miata; but brown, I don't understand.

I suppose that if you are that rich, you can just pay someone to launch the boat. Hmmm. Summer at Lake Powell and make money, too. Desertdogs Launch Service. Nice ring to that. :)

The amphibious RV is so much cooler, if for no other reason than thinking about the endless list of ways it can go horribly, horribly wrong.
But if you had the funds, creativity, and insanity to do it right, the amphibious RV would be an incredible experience. It's missing a sun-deck, though.

The guys that build it have a long history of ducks and other waterborn vehicles; they've done good work on the concept. Also, it has a back deck or a ladder to the roof.
